I dare you not to smile. Don’t you do it!
HAHAH! Okay SMILE it up….Happy Friday!!!! Woo Hoo! We made it! Today has already started out pretty great. I needed to make a change to the marathon schedule and I did my long run today. 10 miles @ 8:40/pace. Feeling nice and sweaty! Can you smell me? I CAN! I need a shower but wanted to check in and say hi first…oh and coffee…I need coffee, lots and lots of coffee! ๐
I some work this morning to tackle through (but I am determined to be finished by noon) and then later I have a date!!! A date? Yup…with my pretty mama!!
She went to Chicago last week and she brought me home a goodie!!! YAY! Yes, I am still that kid who gets presents when her parent’s travel. No shame…I love it!
Do you parents still bring you souvenirs when they travel?
Dinner last night was a fun one. Keith is always complaining that he doesn’t have enough protein snacks(aka: man snacks) on hand at the house. So to remedy that I made meatloaf muffins last night. This was the first time I have ever done this. It was kind of fun!
MEATLOAF MUFFINS
-
2 lbs. lean ground turkey
-
1ย eggs
-
1/2 up steel cut oats
-
1/2 packet dry onion soup mix
-
BBQ sauce
Combine the first 4 ingredients (do not overmix) and place into 12 muffins cups sprayed with nonstick spray. Brush BBQ sauce over the top of each muffin. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
So there, now he has 9 protein “man muffin” snacks left over and ready to go! Hold on a minute, I need to pat myself on the back! I kid. I kid. ๐
I (being the huge meat lover….um not so much) opted for another…wait for it…SANDWICH! I told you guys I was on a kick! Tonight’s was a good old-fashioned classic! Gluten-free Udi bread, turkey, almond cheese, tomato, and cucumbers! Serve it up with some apple slices and another summer sandwich success!
Unfortunately it is pouring buckets here today but it looks good for the weekend! YAY! Have a GREAT day kids!
Tell me one interesting fun fact about yourself?
Mine: 90% of the clothes in my closet are black.
You and your mom look so much alike! Hahah most of my clothes are black too. I love black, and bright colors!
My parents definitely still bring me souvenirs! We call them “prizes,” and Ryan is always like, “Why is it called a “prize”? That insinuates that you did something good or won it.” Ha!
That cartoon definitely made me smile ๐ Happy Friday!
Love it…prizes! Perfect!!
No, my parents don’t really do the souvenir thing so much any more. My dad travels so much now that I think they just forget about that stuff. Thank you for the laugh this morning…I am hoping it will be a good day!
I am so with you on the black clothes. It is shocking when I pull out a color of any kind! Black and brown…those are my colors.
Have a great day Kelly…enjoy your mama!
My parents bring me souvenirs. I love that they still think i’m 10 ๐

Hope you have fun with your mom – something tells me that’s a given though! I can wiggle my ears.
So can Keith….too funny!
My clothes used to be mostly black, white and brown but my aunt wouldn’t let me get away with it and made me buy clothes that have lots of color.
That cartoon made me laugh out loud.
One fact about me is that I’m going to bikram yoga for the first time today.
Oooo, how quick and easy! And delicious sounding too!
Holy moly, there is no denying you and your mama are related!! You two look SO MUCH alike! 2 pretty ladies! ๐
Interesting Fact: I spent 5 years in college, earned 2 degrees, and am just realizing now that I don’t want to follow that career path…pretty fantastic, right? haha
Oh no Courtney….are you okay?!
LOL..I’m with you there on the black clothes. Every morning I stand in front of my closet complaining about not knowing what to wear and my boyfriend says “how hard can it be? You have at least 20 pairs of black pants in there!”
Haha, I LOVE getting stuff from my dad when he travels!! Last time he went to Napa he bought me some delicious (and ridiculously expensive) olive oil from an olive oil farm that he visited!
SWEET!!! That is a great gift!
your mom is so pretty ๐ my parents usually bring back a little something…but (interesting fact) we used to collect those little spoons that you can get places! i have about 50 of them in our garage right now ๐
My family loves meatloaf muffins. They request them, too…I make ’em just to be nice!
I have so many black clothes, too. My boyfriend always ask me to wear colorful stuff. He wears the brightest stuff ever!
My interesting fact: My hair has been permed and dyed – black, brown, red, bleached blond – so many times! I always had the funkiest hairstyles as a kid. It worked with my “MC Hammer pant” collection!
Oh I would love to go blond!!!

I’m double jointed! lol
Of course I get gifts when my parents travel, that’s my priviledge as their kid, haha. Something about me..I love doing laundry, yes seriously ๐
Yes, it’s mandatory that anytime they go out of town I get something. It’s their fault, they started it:)
I always bring my mom back a Christmas ornament whenever I travel.
Meatloaf muffins are fantastic. We made them for our puppy’s birthday 2 years ago, lol. He loved everything, but the candle. Flame freaked him a bit.

Random fact about me: I can make my fingers really crooked so that they look like old lady witch fingers. I need to take a picture to show you exactly what I mean, but it freaks everyone out!

Fun fact: I have an slight obsession with scarves. I have way too many, but I love them!
Scarves? Really….i wouldn’t pegged you as a scarf lover. But I have a bunch too…I always think they look so cute and then I feel like they look completely dorky in them!
Happy Friday!
Great job on the long run! Are you excited to get up to the 16-20 mile range? I love those runs ๐
HECK YEAH!!
Have fun with your momma! I love dates with my mom ๐ My parents never go anywhere. When they went to Hawaii a few years ago, they brought us stuff back though.
I love meatloaf muffins, never tried them with turkey before though, will have to try.
I used to have tons of black clothes. Then when I lost weight, Dan got rid of all of them. I still love black, but I have ALOT less than I used to.
I ran my long this morning too, I couldn’t hold onto my pace though. It wasn’t horribly off, but not where I wanted it. Plus I struggle to hold pace in the dark, because I run tense (fear of falling) even with a flashlight. Speaking of long runs, I am supposed to be working on my marathon training schedule today….still haven’t knocked that out.
Random fact: I can’t stand not having a Qtip around after a shower, it drives me nuts
thanks for the laugh! so cute-casual friday ๐ hope you have fun with your mama ๐ random fact? i need order in my home-can’t stand anything laying around-drives me crazy! hope you have a great weekend ๐
I am definitely going to try those meatloaf minis…even if I eat them myself! LOL What a cool idea. Love it.
Interesting fact about myself….90% of the clothes in my closet are the same 3-4 styles but in different colors…i.e., Same “basic tee” in red, black, green, blue…etc..I like to accessorize with inexpensive jewelry since I was laid off and currently job hunting. When I get a job, I’ll buy some different, sassy tops ๐ Can’t wait!
Enjoy your weekend!
Hey if you find something you like why not go for it? I do that too…I have a few shirts in different colors. I mean if “it aint broke why fix it?” ๐
Almond cheese.. what is that like!? I’ve never heard of it but sounds interesting!
Oh it SO good!!! It is by a company called Lisanti and they sell it at Whole Foods. It comes in cheddar, mozarella and pepper jack!
Have fun with your mom! I love dates with my mom.
I wish it was pouring here. It needs to cool down in these parts.
I live a little too far from home to get gifts when they travel! I do get great care packages every once in awhile though…
Love the meatloaf muffin idea. Mmmm whoda thunk!
Just wanted you to know that Evan, who is now 14 and I did a Mom and son outing to the “Our Body’ with your tickets. I LOVED it and was in awe at the whole thing. Our bodies are just simply amazing things. I am so pleased Evan went with me, we had a great time and hopefully it’ll give him some inclination to look after his body.
Random fact – i feel naked if I don’t have some kind of earings on : )
Enjoy your Mama. I envy you and wish mine was soooo much closer.
YAY!!! I am so glad that Evan went with you and enjoyed it! That makes me so happy for you!!!
You look just like your mom!
I used to wear a lot of bright colors but now I’m moving towards neutrals – white, black, gray, brown and beige. Just feels more professional/adult-ish to me
Kelly you’re just the BEST! Love the cartoon, too cute. And those meatloaf muffins look tastyโgreat idea! I love how your recipes don’t have a bajillion ingredients. And Hmm, fun fact: Well, I’m a triplet. That’s always my go-to answer when I can’t think of anything!
You’re a triplet? I had no idea….are yall identical, same sex…c’mon you can’t drop that bomb and not give me some details! haha!
I love mini meatloaves! Perfect “man snack”. Your mom is gorgeous, you look a lot alike! Keith must have looked at your mom before deciding to marry you ๐
Interesting fact about me…I donate at least 10 garbage bags full of clothes each year to different organizations. Can you say, shopping problem?!
Haha, that definitely made me smile ๐
Interesting fact: I read books at right lights while driving. Tisk!
HAHA! Too funny! I have worked crossword puzzles at red lights before…oops!
Meatball muffins… holy yum! I definitely need to try that out!!
xo
Have fun with your mom! I’m trying to think of something random that isn’t obvious…. hmm…
Anyhow, thanks for the cartoon!
My parents always get me a souvenir whenever they travel too, but I also do the same. Some traditions die hard.
Fun fact: I hate nuts, but love crunchy peanut butter. Go figure.
hahahaha I LOVE that comic! ๐
You look JUST like your mom! And my parents always bring me something back when they travel.
Interesting fact about me: I have never broken a bone, or gotten a cavity. However, when I was little I took the dentists advice far too literally and brushed every single tooth 100 times every morning and night. I actually brushed little holes into the tops of my teeth.
Impressive! I doubt many kids had that problem! ๐
Aw, your mama is gorgeous! ๐
How sweet she brings you back presents. That is awesome!
Random fact… hmm. I have a bunch of funky jewelry that I’ve gotten over the years but I rarely wear any of it!
I have a nervous giggle that I don’t realize I have. And, I’m very sensitive about it when people make fun of it. Haha..I’m so weird! On this same note, my actual laugh is REALLY loud and I am also sensitive when people make fun of that. I need to shup up now!
Yep, made me smile ๐
have a lovely weekend
Bahaha! I love that cartoon! I just stumbled across your blog, and that totally caught my attention ๐
My family brings me lots of favorites! My grandparents brought back a pound of chocolate orange peel last time they visited the mountains without me, and my mum contributes to my coffee mug collection whenever she goes somewhere!
My random fact: Every time I hiccup, I say the word “hiccup”. It’s weird, slightly annoying, I have no idea when or where I picked it up, but I crack up every time! I actually never noticed that I did it until my old roomie pointed it out!
Sorry, I couldn’t stay true to that dare..that cartoon made me downright chuckle ๐
One random fact about myself….hmm..I am not good at this stuff…I can’t stay in an clothing that are not sweats once I am home….if we go out to din or out, I can take 2 hours to get ready and get dressed, the second I get home…sweats..I work in gym clothes, so I feel very uncomfortable in anything but (unless I am out in something that I love)
It’s totally sandwich season! I can’t get enough of them either!
Hm.. one thing about me. I have dual citizenship. Yep, US and Canadian. And that means I have a SSN and a SIN (Canadian Social Insurance Number). If I ever decided to be a secret agent, I guess I’d be set! ๐
90% of my clothes are bright colors-yellow, pink, bright green…
I love your happy attitude!! I’ve been wanting to see It’s Complicated. I think Merryl Streep is fantastic!! Hope you had a good one! ๐ Nora
